Necklace ''Kolarin''

Kolarina grain

The necklace "Kolarin" or "Peružine" consists of a series of grains with a diameter of approximately 1.5 to 2.5 cm, made of thin sheet metal or filigree, and strung on a silk strip.

The modern interpretation that we offer in our stores is connected with golden alkas. "Kolarin" usually consists of 16 to 18 grains, and in the middle it usually has a cross-shaped or heart-shaped pendant.

Necklace "Kolarin" belongs to a very old type of jewelry that traces its origin back to ancient times, and occurs in almost the entire Mediterranean area. The second name "Peružine", which was used on the Pelješac peninsula, traces its origin to the town of Perugia in Italy, where goldsmithing was developed, and from where jewelry may have been purchased. Numerous grain samples of "Kolarin" preserved in church collections testify to numerous versions of the templates, as well as the goldsmithing techniques in which the grains themselves were derived, since the 17th century. In archival sources in Blato they are referred to as "Perugini d'oro Veronesi" and under the name "Tondini". They could be made of gold, gilded gold and silver, as well as made in various filigree techniques, stamping and in combinations of multiple goldsmithing techniques.

Necklace "Kolarin" or "Peružine" can be made in different sizes of 14 carat gold, silver and silver with gilding. All products are handmade in Dubrovnik in our workshops paying special attention to every detail of the workmanship, while bringing the emotion of the history and tradition of the old town of Dubrovnik when making jewelry.
